Neuvo Arenal, Costa Rica, as its name implies, is a new town, located on the north shore of Lake Arenal. The former fishing village was relocated in 1978 as the dammed lake was filled. The new town is located about a one-hour drive northwest from the original village and is connected by Route 142 to La Fortuna, Tejona dn Tilarán. Nuevo Arenal has a strong German influence, as seen in many homes, barns and businesses. The town is located at the base of Arenal Volcano and has easy access to all the adventure and natural activities this region is known for. The region has long been a hub for internationals moving to Costa Rica, and many call Nuevo Arenal home.
